Fitchburg Construction Companies Get Fined By Attorney General

Fitchburg and Leominster MA News, Presented By The Today Headline News Blog. - The Attorney General or Prosecutor of the state fined two Fitchburg construction companies and their owners $ 290,685 for alleged wage and company record issues in 30 public developing projects.

G.R. Construction Corp., which is owned by Richard and Gabriela Rama, was $ 254,041 fine according to a press release yesterday from the office of Attorney General Martha Coakley. Rama Construction Corp., which is also part of Lord Rama, was penalized $ 36,644.

Spoke person from the government said it received a complaint that the company wages, overtime and prevailing wages failed to pay to 21 workers in 30 public projects. The researchers found that wages and injuries related to the maintenance of accurate records and reporting to the competent authorities for Massachusetts.

The state fines against the two companies and branches of $ 188,935 was $ 101,750 in restitution and fines...

Fitchburg Construction Companies Get Fined By Attorney General

Fitchburg and Leominster MA News, Presented By The Today Headline News Blog. - The Attorney General or Prosecutor of the state fined two Fitchburg construction companies and their owners $ 290,685 for alleged wage and company record issues in 30 public developing projects.

Fitchburg Rent-a-Center Don't Want Give Refunds

Leominster and Fitchburg MA News.- After a bad customer service experience on September 25th 2010, when a customer when to rent a house appliance at the Rent-a-Center in John Fitch Hwy in Fitchburg.



The sale rep in the store promise to deliver the item that same day in the evening, but they never did. The customer decided to give them another chance and after talking to store rep that night they agree to make the delivery early morning the next day (September 26th).



And guess what! They never did it, and they decide to make the delivery after 4pm in the afternoon, after the customer already called to cancel the order.



Then after a few weeks the customer when back to the store to get a refund for the money she paid for the first week lease. And big SURPRISE!



They store manager told the customer that the only thing he can get is credit for a new rental, but no refunds.



Is this illegal? YES, it is!...



After a few attempts, the customer didn't any other choice than going public and calling the Rent-a-Center's Customer Service Hotline.



That was the only way he can get a district manager to call and try to fix the situation...



Come on, the transaction was for only $20, just give it back to the client. How you expect to build a good local business if trying to provide bad service to the city citizens!



Better choice for anyone looking to rent or lease to own an item is Aarons. Located on the same street, close to McDonald's.



I hope the client get the refund he deserve, if not please contact us so we can write a follow up to this article.

Fitchburg and Leominster MA News.- Yes our two cites were hit very hard by a long lasting rain that started on Friday, March 12 and ended on Monday March 15 2010... This is not the first time we get hit by a bad storm, and is not the first time our streets are flooded. The concern from local resident is that our authorities don't learn and are not ready to face natural problems like a long rain.

I think the authorities of the cities Leominster and Fitchburg need to learn from pass mistakes, and have the towns ready for any type of natural disasters like the really bad ice storm in 2007 that let Massachusetts in the dark, some places for only hours, others for more than a month.

Don't tell me that if something like that happen again, people are going to experience the same problems from before? When are we going to learn?


Dangerous!

I need to warn you of three type of danger during and after the rainstorm:

1. The first one is the really flooded streets that can have your car stock in the middle of a mini river.
2. Hiding potholes that can not be seeing under all that water.
3. Street barricades without a warning light of something, next time the city need to make adjustments and put lights or something that will become bright when the car lights go on them.
   

Just try to make sure you drive carefully, and have some extra things to help you be save if your car gets damage or brakes down in the middle of the road. Things like:

• Extra spare tires.
• Flash lights.
• Cellphone.
• Road cones with lights.
• Rain coat.
• Rain boots.
• Tool box.
  

Hope next time we avoid having a flood, but for now let's try to be safe!....

Fitchburg MA and Leominster MA Events News.- Mayor Dan Mylott decide to use the city of Fitchburg free cash account to pay some city debts and contracts, where the Finance Committee vote on Tuesday to approve the spending of $105,000 to pay for a contract agreement with the firefighters' union. Hey you have to pay your debts, plus is about time Mylott start taking Fitchburg off debts...

Some councilors wer worried about using to much of the free cash account budget which is holding $250,000 at the moment. Which they think would be in zero before the end of the year. Mylott said that he understand their concerns but he said "we have to pay what we have to pay"

Also, Mylott said that all this may result in layoff during 2008. The only departments that will not face layoffs are the Fitchburg MA Police and Fire Departments.
