Enjoy Your Pumas is a female-fronted indie pop quintet that blends powerful soaring vocals with atmospheric guitars and a rhythm section that packs more punch than a boxing glove factory. Their infectious, genre-defying sound has been described as Emily Haines fronting Bloc Party covering Radiohead which is difficult to imagine so you have to go and listen.
The Cleft Palettes From: Who Knows? I know absolutely nothing about the Cleft Palettes. They don't appear to have a myspace site. Their Facebook site has no information. Their website has nothing other than links to download a few tracks. Their Last.FM site is the most informative and all that says is that The Cleft Palettes are two guys and a blonde girl. That much I could guess from the only picture that I could find of the band.
What I do know is that if ever a band let their music do the talking it's The Cleft Palettes. Necro Step sounds like a cut 'n shunt of The B52'sRock Lobster and The Human League's'Sound of the Crowd' reimagined by Bloc Party. It's art rock with more fizz than a sherbert fountain. Their other tracks aren't as infused with the same joie de vivre. Ghost Girl sounds like Hadouken! on red bull while Rent-O-Kill is all wiry, edgy, kinetic energy. At the risk of sounding like the musical equivalent of the Hotel Inspector the Devil's advice to The Cleft Palettes is raise the self promotion levels and use Necro Step as their template. That's the route to world domination, or at least domination of their hometown wherever that may be. Go Try
