From: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
One of the Chrises (Chris 2 to be exact) took some time out from moonlighting from his Anti-Flag day job with White Wives to talk to the Devil about Dutch politicos, his dreams for the Pittsburgh Penguins and his favourite Pennsylvanian bands.
Chris: we chose the name White Wives based on a series of ideas called the "white plans" that a 1960's dutch organization called the Provo's had created. The White Wives plan called for the dissemination of birth control and sex ed literature to young women in a time where such information was well past taboo. The ideas of the Provo's (provokers) was something that was interesting to us, in turn we named our band after them.
The Devil: What other names did you ponder before deciding it had to be White Wives?
Chris: there are way too many, way too lame to list!
The Devil: Who are the biggest influences in your life and on your music?
Chris: a lot of 90's rock records, Pixies - doolittle, Nirvana - inUtero, Weezer - Pinkerton. Roger is well influenced by literary artists like Dylan, Guthrie, Neil Young.
The Devil: What was the first record you owned and what was the first record you ever bought with your own money?
Chris: Green Day - Dookie cassette was the first music I bought. MC Hammer - Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em was the first piece of music I ever owned.
The Devil: What makes White Wives stand out from the millions of other bands across the world? What makes you unique?
Chris: the individuals. No other band has been born out of the experiences that the band members have lived through. Our unique lives and our interest in creating something meaningful to us is what makes us stand on our own.
The Devil: Which bands or artists on the current music scene make your spine tingle?
Chris: let's keep it PA and rep our home state. tigers jaw, the menzingers, Koji, balance & composure.
The Devil: Favourite song?
Chris: Ingrid Bergman - Billy Bragg
The Devil: Favourite book?
Chris: so you wanna be a rock and roll star
The Devil. Favourite Movie?

The Devil: Favourite word?
Chris: wobbly
The Devil: Favourite Anti-Flag song?
Chris: the project for a new american century - Anti-Flag, Grow So Wild & Free - White Wives
The Devil: Tell me something that you've never told anyone before.
Chris: no thank you.
The Devil: If you weren't in White Wives or anti-Flag how would you keep yourself occupied?
Chris: playing music with my friends is the only thing I've ever known I wanted to do. I guess I would play ice hockey and hopefully be an art teacher or something productive.
The Devil: If you were interviewing yourself what would your killer question be and how would you answer it?
Chris: how are the pittsburgh penguins going to fare this year? Malkin and James Neal have breakout seasons, Pens take on Chicago for the cup and win in 6 games. And since we're in a fantasy world, all that comes true.
The Devil: Is there anything else you'd like to tell the Devil Has The Best Tuna readers?
