Gospel Music is the nom de plume of Owen Holmes (sounds like an evil estate agent!), bassist for indie combo Black Kids. Owen has been taken a little time out from his role as the new indie bass gold standard to indulge in a little extra curricular activity. Owen called on the great and the good of the indie world, a call that was answered by Camera Obscura’s Tracyanne Campbell, Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone, the Magnetic Fields’ Shirley Simms, Hefner’s Darren Hayman, and French singer-songwriter SoKo.
The resulting EP of duets called, appropriately enough, Duettes is an EP of infectious shambling pop songs that are at the head of the queue for the soundtrack to Juno II. It's lo-fi flirty fun and that's the gospel.
