Gothic rockers Deathline (first featured on the Devil's blog way back in 2007, Deathline) have taken time out from scaring the children and laying down tracks for their next, as yet untitled, album to share their thoughts with the Devil. To celebrate sharing their innermost thoughts they are offering free copies of the album to the first 10 reader who email them at list@deathline.co.uk with the subject "The Devil wants me for your mailing list". The first 10 readers to do so will all receive a voucher for a free download of a special edition of their first album (available for those who miss out from the bands bandcamp site for $5) with an unreleased bonus track and a video. How good is that?

The Devil: Why Deathline? What other names did you consider before finally deciding it had to be Deathline?

Deathline: We were sitting in a pub looking round for names and all we could find was a Thai food menu. That would have been rubbish, being called Pad Thai or Green Curry, so we started talking about movies we like. Death Line, a 70s horror film about cannibals in the London Underground is one of our favourite films - and it suited the darkness of our music (and us) so that's what we chose.

The Devil: Who are your biggest influences?

Deathline: The Fall. David Lynch. David Bowie. Andy Warhol. Cats (the animals, not the musical. We hate musicals).
The Devil: What was the first record you owned and what was the first record you ever bought?

Deathline: We both first owned ABBA records as children. Jennie's Swedish which explains that. Not sure about Kaoru. We both quickly became a bit more industrial after that.

The Devil: What's the strangest place you've played and would you go back there?

Deathline: It was at a convention for Second Life in a very nice conference room at the Chicago Hilton. We'd definitely go back. The rooms we stayed in had amazing beds and Jennie got upgraded to a suite. She had two bathrooms, two walk in closets and two king size beds. It was a strange gig but the service was first class.

The Devil: Other than Deathline who are the most exciting bands on the current music scene?

Deathline: Suicide Party. Bo Ningen. Exit International

The Devil: If you weren't in Deathline how would you keep yourself occupied?

Deathline
: We might be a sweet, uplifting acoustic duo called Lifeline. Or cannibals in the London Underground.

The Devil: If you were interviewing yourself what would your killer question be and how would you answer it?

Dea
thline: Q: Why? A: Why not?

The Devil: Do Deathline do jokes? If so what's your favourite joke?

D
eathline: Yeah, there's lots of funny jokes about death. In a way all jokes and all art is about death in the end. And death is the punch line for everything. That's quite funny really. Ha ha.

The Devil: Is there anything else you'd like to say to the Devil's readers?

Deathline: Buy our music and come to our gigs and we'll love you. There's nothing else is there really?
