Doctors & Dealers is the trade name for beguiling Swedish chanteuse Sparrow (itself surely a pseudonym). With a fine line in slightly retro pop songs and with her latest EP produced by Gordon Raphael it comes as no surprise that Regina Spektor's name regularly pops up in reviews. What may be more of a surprise is that the title track of her latest EP, Trouble, a taster for forthcoming album Every Sinner Has A Future, reminds me of Irish folkie Mary Coughlan. It starts off as a smoky, languid, late night song before the chorus hits you like a slap in the face. It sounds like an echo from another time. A time when the ladies wore feathered headbands and the gentleman wore hats, wing tip shoes and spent their nights searching for a speakeasy.Sparrow is singing like a canary!
